Out-of-Network Billing & Good Faith Estimate Notice
Cooper Mental Health Counseling is an out-of-network mental health practice in New York. This means we do not bill insurance directly for in-network services. All clients are responsible for paying for services at the time of their appointment. If you wish to submit claims to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement, you must do so yourself.
Your Protections From Surprise or Balance Billing
Emergency Care: If you need emergency care, you cannot be charged more than your plan’s in-network cost-sharing (copayments, coinsurance, deductible). Cooper Mental Health Counseling does not provide emergency services.
In-Network Facilities: If you visit an in-network hospital or surgical center, some providers may be out-of-network. You only pay your in-network cost-share for these services, and providers cannot “balance bill” you unless you give written consent.
No Waiver Needed: You are never required to give up your protections from balance billing, and you can always choose an in-network provider.
Good Faith Estimate (GFE) Notice
If you are self-pay or uninsured, federal law requires that you receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of services before care. Cooper Mental Health Counseling fees range from $150-$300 a session. Limited amount of sliding scale low fee sessions are also available with certain clinicians. You can contact us to learn more about our session fees.
